| The Blake School is an independent, Montessori, co-educational school incorporating infant care through grade eight. Founded by Linnie Lunde Jordan in 1967, The Blake School is currently under the leadership of Joyce Hutson, director, and Alene Padgett, principal. Both Mrs. Hutson and Mrs. Padgett have been a fundamental part of The Blake School since 1970.
The Blake School is accredited by the Association of Independent Schools of Florida and is a member of the National Council for Private School Accreditation and the Broward County Non-Public School Association. Our academic day begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. Extended hours and a summer program are available. |
The Blake School's Montessori approach to education begins in our appropriately equipped infant-toddler environment and our preschool classrooms. The Montessori materials located in these areas invite the child to actively participate in the learning process.
Elementary and middle school students are exposed to an extensive curriculum of the fundamental areas of education: reading, math, spelling, language arts, phonics, handwriting, creative writing, science, social studies and computer skills. Spanish, music, art and physical education are available to all of our students. It is our goal to help cultivate happy, self-confident and knowledgeable individuals with an integrated outlook on life. |
